4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, maintain shopping-cart and account functionality, measure website activity, and protect against fraud or abuse.

These technologies may include:

  • Essential cookies needed for shopping, accounts, checkout, security, and website operation
  • Analytics cookies used to understand website traffic and usage
  • Functional cookies used to provide features such as embedded social-media content

Where required, visitors may be given a cookie-consent tool through which nonessential cookies can be accepted or rejected. Browser settings may also allow users to block or delete cookies, although doing so can prevent parts of the website from functioning properly.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to better understand website traffic and usage. Google may receive information such as IP addresses, device identifiers, browser information, pages visited, and interactions with the website.

Where configurable, we limit analytics-data retention to 14 months. Google’s collection and use of information are governed by its own terms and privacy notices.

6. Social-Media Content

Our website may use a Meta plugin to display posts from our Facebook and Instagram accounts. When this content loads or is used, Meta may collect information about the visitor’s device, browser, cookies, account status, or interaction with the embedded content.

Bark or Woof does not use this plugin to create custom advertising audiences or conduct targeted advertising. Meta independently controls its own collection and processing of information under its privacy policy.

7. Email and Text Communications

We send newsletters, promotional emails, or promotional text messages only to people who have requested or consented to receive them.

Recipients can unsubscribe from emails using the link included in each marketing message. Text recipients may follow the opt-out instructions in the message, such as replying “STOP,” where applicable.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary transactional communications concerning orders, accounts, payments, security, or customer-service requests.

8. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information to service providers that help us operate our business, including:

  • WooCommerce for online-store functionality
  • Stripe for payment processing and fraud prevention
  • DreamHost for website hosting
  • Cloudflare for website delivery, availability, and security
  • Google Analytics for website analytics
  • Google reCAPTCHA for spam and abuse prevention

We may also disclose information:

  • To investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our terms
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of business assets
  • At your direction or with your consent

Service providers may process information only as permitted by their agreements with us and their own applicable legal obligations.

9. No Sale of Personal Information

Bark or Woof does not sell personal information for money.

Based on our current practices, we also do not disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. Our Meta integration is used to display Facebook and Instagram posts rather than create advertising audiences or track visitors for targeted advertising.

If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required choices or opt-out methods.

10. International and Cross-Border Processing

Bark or Woof is based in Colorado, United States, and serves customers in the United States and Canada.

Information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from those in a customer’s province, state, or country. Information stored in another country may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, or governmental authorities under that country’s laws.

We take reasonable steps to use service providers that maintain appropriate protections for the information they process.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, accounting, security, and dispute-resolution requirements.

Our retention practices generally are:

  • Order, billing, refund, and tax records: up to seven years after the transaction
  • Customer accounts: while active and generally up to two years after inactivity
  • Contact-form and support communications: up to two years after resolution

  • Privacy requests and responses: up to two years
  • Backup copies: removed through our normal backup-rotation process, generally within 90 days

We may retain information longer when reasonably necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, or protect legal rights. When information is no longer required, we may delete or anonymize it.

12. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of information
  • Request a portable copy of certain information

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We aim to respond within 45 days, subject to applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Some requests may be limited when retaining or using the information is necessary to complete a transaction, maintain legally required records, prevent fraud, protect security, resolve disputes, or exercise legal rights.

13. Information Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information.

No website, network, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Children’s Privacy

Our website is intended for people aged 13 or older. Purchases may be made only by people aged 18 or older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

A parent or guardian who believes that a child under 13 has provided information to us should contact [email protected].

15. Third-Party Websites and Services

Our website may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites and services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and Bark or Woof is not responsible for their independent practices.

We encourage visitors to review the privacy notices of third parties they use.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technologies, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update its effective date.

If a change materially affects how we use previously collected information, we will provide any additional notice or obtain any consent required by law.
